Two awards honor career achievement by civil service staff members.

Outstanding Career Civil Service Achievement

Recognizes and honors civil service staff members who have a long-standing history of distinction in their performance of duties, possess a commitment to teamwork, and inspire excellence in others.

Specific eligibility: Civil service staff in the College of Arts and Sciences who have been employed at WSU for a minimum of five years and overall have more than 16 years of experience in a civil servant position at the time of nomination.

Nomination packet should include:

  • A broad description (two pages max.) of why the nominee is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments, service, and recognition, and the impact of the nominee’s work within the unit, across the institution, in external communities, and/or on students as appropriate.
  • Additional documentation of outstanding accomplishments in professional activity or service as appropriate.
  • At least one letter of support or testimonial from a peer, student, and/or external constituent is required.
  • Resume limit: 10 pages.

Early Career Civil Service Achievement

Recognizes and honors civil service staff members who exemplify outstanding excellence in performance of duties, possess a commitment to teamwork, and inspire excellence in others unusually early in their professional career.

Specific eligibility: Civil service staff members in the College of Arts and Sciences who are within the first five years of employment at WSU and have fewer than eight years overall in a civil service position.

Nomination packet should include:

  • A broad description (two pages max.) of why the nominee is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments, service, and recognition, and the impact of the nominee’s work within the unit, across the institution, in external communities, and/or on students as appropriate.
  • Additional documentation of outstanding accomplishments in professional activity or service as appropriate.
  • At least one letter of support or testimonial from a peer, student, and/or external constituent is required.
  • Resume limit: 5 pages.
