Aurentz (PhD ’14), mathematics and statistics, and two colleagues received the Outstanding Paper Prize at the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) annual meeting for their paper “Fast and Backward Stable Computation of Roots of Polynomials,” published in SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, Volume 36, Issue 3 (2015). They also co-authored with three colleagues Core-Chasing Algorithms for the Eigenvalue Problem (SIAM).
