CAS is committed to providing meaningful mentoring experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CAS Mentoring Expectations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The College expects Departments to form and implement effective mentoring committees for all promotable faculty. Their function is to advise on various local and discipline-specific aspects regarding the faculty member\u2019s workload and progress towards tenure and\/or promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effective faculty mentoring can cultivate a sense of faculty belonging, improve faculty retention, enhance collaborative learning, increase scholarship\/creative activity productivity and teaching effectiveness, instill engagement and a sense of purpose within a unit, and overall build a community of care. The key word, of course, is \u201c<em>effective.\u201d<\/em> Effectiveness can be hard to define in advance of any given situation, but our aim is guiding departments and schools toward better practices for faculty mentorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">College Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Share best\/better <a href=\"https:\/\/cas.wsu.edu\/faculty\/documents\/2025\/10\/faculty-mentoring-guidelines.pdf\">faculty mentoring practices<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect departments\/schools with resources to support effective mentorship within their units.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect, review, and store faculty mentoring policies for each department\/school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><a
