Application Process

The College of Arts and Sciences and our academic departments and schools offer numerous scholarships for both current and incoming students.

Current Undergraduate Students

All students are encouraged to complete the WSU general scholarship application for each year of enrollment. Applications must be submitted by January 31 for the following academic year.

Science disciplines

CAS undergraduates pursuing a science-based major and all students interested in pre-healthcare programs are encouraged to apply for additional scholarships and book awards.

The 2017-2018 science-based scholarships are now closed. Applications for the 2018-2019 academic year will open in December 2018.

CAS science-based disciplines include:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Earth & Environmental Sciences
  • General Studies: Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Zoology

Arts, humanities, and social sciences disciplines

CAS students are nominated by their departments for scholarship consideration and/or academic units may have additional scholarships available through a department application. Contact your home department for more information.

Additionally, an audition is required to be eligible for a School of Music scholarship.

Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students

Please complete the WSU general scholarship application to be considered for both merit and need-based awards from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and other units across campus. Applications must be submitted by January 31 for the following academic year.

Graduate Students

Most fellowships, scholarships, and stipends for students pursuing advanced degrees are discipline-specific. However, a few college-level awards are available.

 

CAS Applications

Current students in science-based CAS majors are encouraged to apply for 2018-19 scholarships. Students not in a CAS major but pursuing a pre-health program are also eligible for selected awards. Applications will open in late 2017.
