If you are more experienced, you know there are lots of details to oversee. Either way, there are numerous resources and guidelines to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Basics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposal preparation is a time and energy intensive process. Start early and be aware of <a href=\"https:\/\/orso.wsu.edu\/submit-a-proposal\/\">internal university processes and deadlines<\/a> to meet before the sponsor due date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some key hints:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Read the request for proposals early and often \u2013 read it <em>fully<\/em>, don\u2019t skim.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make checklists and timelines to keep yourself on track and productive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact your unit RA as soon as possible to begin formulating a budget.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enlist colleagues and others to review proposal drafts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don\u2019t neglect additional proposal documents; give CVs, facilities statements, data management plans, budget narrative\/justification, and other required items focused attention and intent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Budget Approval and eRex Assistance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Budgets in pursuit of extramural funding must be institutionally approved. If your unit does not have an budget certified RA, contact us at <a href=\"cas.gfs@wsu.edu\">cas.gfs@wsu.edu<\/a>. We will also complete the internal eRex form and submit your proposal to ORSO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GFS Proposal Development Assistance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Grant and Fellowship Support (GFS) team provides full-service, pre-award assistance for applications ranging from individual fellowship applications to large, complex team research proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can help you with any or all steps of project narrative development from idea to final submission. Depending on the complexity of the proposal and the level of assistance you\u2019d like, up to six weeks before the due date is a good time frame for full project support. For budget certification only, one week is usually sufficient.
