Lisa Carloye, clinical assistant professor of biology, will be honored with the annual President’s Distinguished Teaching Award for Non-tenure Track Faculty at the Celebrating Excellence Recognition Banquet on March 25.

Carloye has taught in the College of Arts and Sciences since 2005 and in the School of Biological Sciences since 2011. She designed a new course that integrates life and physical sciences with mathematics in an experiential setting. The course aids students who have limited preparation for STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) majors. She also serves as a critical resource for the online biology major.

The teaching award is part of the annual WSU Showcase celebration of faculty and staff achievement. Selection criteria include: igniting a passion for learning; employing innovative mentoring and teaching techniques; valuing and responding to diversity; increasing students’ intellectual growth, critical thinking and integrated views; and organizing/conducting new courses or revitalizing existing ones.
