Advancing Student Research, Professional Growth, and Community Engagement

  • Excellence Funds played a vital role in supporting the Department of Anthropology’s commitment to academic excellence, student success, and community impact. Funding provided undergraduate research scholarships and graduate research fellowships that helped students offset research costs, living expenses, and conference participation, reducing financial barriers and allowing them to focus on research, degree completion, and professional development.
  • The funds also enriched the academic environment by bringing visiting scholars to campus to share their research and engage directly with students and faculty through mentorship opportunities. These experiences broadened perspectives, fostered intellectual curiosity, and strengthened connections between students and experts in the field.
  • Additional support recognized student achievement through the AGO Service Award and extended the department’s impact beyond campus through K-12 outreach initiatives. By providing educational materials and resources for outreach events, the department inspired young learners and sparked interest in anthropology and scientific discovery.
