How your gifts made an impact in 2025-2026:
Strengthened Graduate Student Recruitment.
Excellence Funds supported the Department’s February 2026 graduate recruitment weekend, helping host prospective students and contributing to the successful enrollment of 12 new graduate students in Fall 2026. These efforts are critical for attracting talented scholars who enhance the department’s research, teaching, and academic community.
Advanced Research and Professional Development.
Funding provided travel support for students and faculty to present research, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in regional and national conferences. These opportunities broaden professional networks, elevate the visibility of WSU Chemistry, and allow participants to share discoveries while bringing new ideas and expertise back to campus.
Enhanced Scientific Learning and Collaboration.
Excellence Funds supported the Innovative Lecture Series and research seminar programs, bringing distinguished scientists to campus to engage with students and faculty. These events enrich the academic environment, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and expose students to emerging research and career pathways within the chemical sciences.
Recognized Excellence and Achievement.
Funding contributed to awards and recognition programs celebrating outstanding accomplishments by students, faculty, and staff. Recognizing achievements in teaching, research, and service helps foster a culture of excellence and encourages continued contributions to the department’s success.
Supported Faculty Recruitment and Retention.
Resources assisted with relocation expenses for a new faculty member, strengthening the department’s ability to attract and retain exceptional educators and researchers who advance its teaching and research mission.
Built Student Community and Belonging.
Excellence Funds supported Undergraduate Welcome Weekend activities, helping new students connect with the department, form relationships with peers and faculty, and begin their academic journey with a strong sense of community and support.
