How your gifts made an impact in 2025-2026:
Enhanced Student Performance and Access.
Excellence Funds supported the purchase of new trumpets, clarinets, and piccolos as part of the Cougar Marching Band’s goal of providing a university-owned instrument for every member. Expanding and modernizing the instrument inventory helps ensure students have access to high-quality equipment, reduces financial barriers to participation, and supports a consistent level of musical excellence across the ensemble.
Developed Student Leaders.
Funding enabled the band’s three drum majors to attend a leadership camp in Charleston, Illinois, where they gained valuable skills in leadership, instruction, team building, and performance management. These experiences strengthened student leadership within the organization and brought new ideas and best practices back to the Cougar Marching Band.
Supported Student Well-Being and Performance.
Excellence Funds provided uniform items, warm-weather gear, and other essential supplies needed for performances in extreme weather conditions. These investments helped ensure student comfort, safety, and readiness during demanding game-day and performance schedules.
These investments directly support student success, leadership development, and performance excellence. By providing quality instruments, professional development opportunities, and essential equipment, Excellence Funds help create an outstanding educational experience for band members while ensuring the Cougar Marching Band continues to represent Washington State University with pride, professionalism, and excellence at athletic events and community performances.
