Thank you for your continued support of General Studies.

Your contribution to this unrestricted fund plays a pivotal role in empowering our department to excel in academic pursuits, foster innovation, and provide unparalleled opportunities for our students, faculty, and staff. With your support, we can continue to make a lasting impact on education, research, and the overall experience of everyone within our community.

Thank you once again for your belief in our mission and for being an essential part of our journey towards excellence. Below are just a few examples of the work our excellence fund accomplished last year. We look forward to keeping you informed about the positive outcomes and achievements that your generosity helps us realize.

With sincere appreciation, GO COUGS!

  • General Studies faculty travel cost to support the Student Seattle Experience. Eight students, faculty and staff were able to visit with organization representatives, alumni and CAS Board members, and at the same time learn about both nonprofit opportunities as well as opportunities in large corporations. Throughout bigger picture considerations were discussed, such as a sense of belonging and finding one’s place in the world which included the career path, geographic location, and the organization. Questions of culture, meaning, community, and sustainability were also discussed within these contexts.
  • Advising Retreat, May 2023: Karen Gomez and Mechelle Crazy Thunder were invited to present on the history of tribal colleges and best practices for working Indigenous students. A PowerPoint presentation from Mechelle is attached. (Excellence Fund was used to pay for Karen and Mechelle’s honorariums).
  • Professional Development for Advisors in the CUE Advising Center: Funded “Employer Relations Workshop” and “NACE Competency Symposium” registration fees.
