Politics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs

Thank you for your continued support of the School of Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs.

Your contribution to this unrestricted fund plays a pivotal role in empowering our department to excel in academic pursuits, foster innovation, and provide unparalleled opportunities for our students, faculty, and staff. With your support, we can continue to make a lasting impact on education, research, and the overall experience of everyone within our community.

Thank you once again for your belief in our mission and for being an essential part of our journey towards excellence. Below are just a few examples of the work our excellence fund had accomplished last year. We look forward to keeping you informed about the positive outcomes and achievements that your generosity helps us realize.

With sincere appreciation, GO COUGS!

  • Student Teams. Through the Philosophy Excellence Endowment, PPPA was able to send a dozen students to compete in the collegiate Ethics Bowl in Tacoma where they were able to hone their critical thinking and public speaking skills.
  • PPPA Special Events. Our Excellence Funds supported the visit of a nationally-recognized expert on philosophy of biology, a lunch gathering for new graduate students and an ice cream social for our graduate student association. The academic and social gatherings are essential for creating community and collaboration among our students.
  • Graduate Student Professionalization. Our Excellence Funds allowed several political science graduate students to present their research at the Pacific Northwest Political Science Association annual meeting in Walla Walla. This will make them more competitive on the academic job market.
  • Graduate Student Research. Through the PPPA Excellence Fund, PPPA was able to support the purchase of survey respondents for the research of one of our graduate students. This allowed him to complete his dissertation and helped him win a prestigious post-doctoral fellowship.
