Lawrence Hatter, assistant professor, history, presented “Wars of Independence: From Metacom to Tenskwatawa” at the Portland (Ore.) Art Museum as part of a Teacher Initiative Workshop organized by George Washington’s Mount Vernon, “Seeing the Native Presence in Washington’s Time and Beyond.”
Jana Argersinger, publications editor, English, presented “Relational Aesthetics and the Author(s) of Rose Hawthorne Lathrop’s Memories of Hawthorne” at the American Literature Association conference in San Francisco, where she also presented and chaired the session “Poe and Nineteenth-Century Medicine,” to be developed into a special issue of Poe Studies: History, Theory, Interpretation, one of the journals hosted by the Department of English.
Ruth Gregory, instructor, English, presented her live-action virtual reality series, Music of the Spheres, at the Seattle International Film Festival and the Pop Culture Association Conference, also in Seattle.
Virginia Hyde, professor emeritus, English, authored “From the Pueblos to Cambridge: Mornings in Mexico and Other Essays” in Archiv für das Studium der Neueren Sprachen und Literaturen, also presented in the session “Lawrence, Editions and Critical Renewal” at the Modern Languages Association national convention in Austin, Texas.
Michael Delahoyde, clinical professor, English, led a Shakespeare symposium in Ashland, Ore., focused on The Winter’s Tale, Twelfth Night and his recent research in Italy. Delahoyde also received a Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship to support his archival research in northern Italy in summer 2017.
Beth Buyserie, clinical assistant professor, English, presented “Gender, Faculty Status, and Student Evaluations: Quantitative Perspective I” at the Council of Writing Program Administrators Conference in Raleigh, NC.
Marina Tolmacheva, professor, history, presented “The Delhi Sultanate as a Muslim borderland: a snapshot from the Rihla of Ibn Battuta” at the 2016 Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast conference at California State University Northridge.
