John Streamas, associate professor, critical culture, gender, and race studies, authored “The Real War That Got Into the Movies: Eastwood and Spielberg in the Pacific” in The Films of Clint Eastwood: Critical Perspectives (University of New Mexico Press). Streamas also authored the poem “My Blue Whale” in the Inflatable Celebration exhibit at Third Street Art Gallery in Moscow, Idaho.
Cassandra Gulam, senior instructor and program leader, foreign languages and cultures, WSU Vancouver, was recognized at the Community Engagement Institute at Gonzaga University for her project, “Language Learners in the Community: Partnering with Safety-Net Medical Clinics in Clark County.”
Alecia Hoene, academic coordinator/advisor, environment, received the WSU Crimson Spirit Award for May 2018.
Leah Benedict, clinical assistant professor, English, received the 2018 WSU Libraries’ Excellence Award in recognition of her dedication to introducing students to the many facets of library research beyond finding and evaluating resources.
Denzel McCray, secretary senior and research assistant, psychology, was named a WSU Top Ten Senior of 2018.
David Wollkind, professor emeritus, and Bonni J. Dichone (PhD ’11), mathematics and statistics, coauthored Comprehensive Applied Mathematical Modeling in the Natural and Engineering Sciences; Theoretical Predictions Compared with Data (Springer).
Sergey Lapin, clinical associate professor, mathematics and statistics, received an Honors Faculty Award from the WSU Honors College for outstanding commitment to the college’s students.
Amanda Yager, grants and contract coordinator, College of Arts and Sciences dean’s office, received the 2018 Grant and Contract Service Award from the WSU Office of Research.
Dean Johnson, clinical associate professor, mathematics and statistics, was elected to serve on the American Statistical Association’s Statistical Consulting Council of Sections for 2019-21.
Ralph Chikhany, graduate student, mathematics and statistics, received the WSU Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) Graduate Student Instructor Excellence Award and received one of three GPSA Senator of the Year awards.
