Carrie Cuttler, clinical assistant professor, psychology, received an Open Educational Resources Research Fellowship from the Open Education Group.
Jarred Williams, doctoral candidate, sociology, was named a 2017 Soros Justice Fellow to further his work on prison closures.
Lawrence Hatter, assistant professor, history, was awarded a month-long research fellowship at the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon in Vernon, Virginia.
Annie Cunningham, graduate student, fine arts, received the Francis T. and Janis D. Ho Graduate Fellowship in Fine Arts and exhibited her piece “Stone Garment” in the “Show Your World: Second International Juried Exhibition” in New York City, where she also delivered a gallery talk. Her work also will be part of a duo-exhibition at Gallery Rademann in Schwarzenberg, Germany.
Alair MacLean, associate professor, sociology, WSU Vancouver, was elected chair of the American Sociological Association section on Peace, War and Social Conflict. She presented several papers at the ASA and Society for the Study of Social Problems annual meetings in Seattle, including “Historical Changes in the Context and Impact of Military Service” and “Started from the Bottom: Globalization, Welfare, and Cross-National Variation in Poverty and Inequality.”

Jeff Vervoort, professor, environment, was named a fellow of the American Geophysical Union in recognition of exceptional scientific contributions. Fellowships are awarded to no more than 0.01 percent of all AGU members annually.
Michael Delahoyde, clinical professor, English, led a Shakespeare symposium in Ashland, Ore., focused on The Winter’s Tale, Twelfth Night and his recent research in Italy. Delahoyde also received a Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship to support his archival research in northern Italy in summer 2017.
