More than Dollars in the Bank
Scholarships and stipends can reduce your stress and expand your opportunities. The College of Arts and Sciences offers both merit- and need-based awards to students at all stages in their education.
Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students
Scholarships are available for well-prepared incoming freshmen and select transfer students. Many awards are renewable for a second academic year (criteria vary).
Complete the general WSU scholarship application to be considered for these awards and many more scholarship awards across the University. The annual deadline is January 31 for the following academic year. But don't wait for word on your acceptance! You can complete the scholarship application at any time before the January 31 deadline.
To be eligible for a scholarship from the College of Arts and Sciences, you must indicate an interest in a major offered by the college when you fill out the application.
Music Scholarships
Details on the required audition can be found on the School of Music website.
Current Students
The College of Arts and Sciences also offers numerous scholarships to currently enrolled undergraduate students, as well as several for graduate students. Eligibility varies and often requires certification in a particular major. Many of these scholarships are funded through alumni donations and memorial gifts.
The online application for science-based disciplines is available now and must be submitted by January 25, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. **Revised deadline**
Transfer students who anticipate certifying in a major in the College of Arts and Sciences upon entering WSU are also eligible to apply. However, you should contact the academic unit in writing and indicate that you have submitted the college scholarship application.
Music Scholarships
Details on the required audition can be found on the School of Music website.
University Scholarships
Current students may also be eligible for general university scholarships. You are encouraged to also fill out the annual general WSU scholarship application by the January 31 deadline.
Financial Aid @ WSU
Many need-based scholarships require students to have a current FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file. All students are encouraged to complete this federal form every academic year they intend to enroll at WSU.
Visit the WSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships for details, and take note of the WSU priority deadline.
