Languages, Cultures, and Race: Insook Webber

Insook Webber, associate professor of French, presented her research paper, “Annie Ernaux’s Transgressions: Disturbing the Binary – Seen/Unseen” at the South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA) 96th Congress, Seen and Unseen, held in Jacksonville, Florida. In her paper, Webber addressed the transgressive aspects of the works of Annie Ernaux, the 2022 Nobel laureate in literature, which call into question the binary of what is considered worthy to be seen and what is not, or what subject matters are considered “literary” or of “good taste” and what are not.
