Niimi is the Oka Scholarship recipient for the Japanese Strand at the Summer Seminar, which is being conducted as part of the World Language Summer Seminar for Language Teachers that will take place at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in July 2025. The Oka Scholarship-California Language Teachers’ Association bestowed the award.
