Award-winning poet and Cave Canem fellow Arisa White is on the Pullman campus today as a guest of the WSU Visiting Writers program. Hosted by the Department of English, the series is an annual system-wide offering of creative readings, class visits, workshops, and collaborative exchanges across intellectual and artistic disciplines.
Arisa White is the recipient of the Golden Crown Literary Award and the Per Diem Poetry Prize and has been nominated for an NAACP Image Award and a Lambda Literary Award. As the founder of the Beautiful Things Project, White curates poetic collaborations that are rooted in Black queer women’s ways of knowing. Her most recent book is the poetic memoir Who’s Your Daddy. She is co-author of Biddy Mason Speaks Up, the second book in the Fighting for Justice Series for young readers.
White will read from her work tonight at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. The recording will be available via the VWS YouTube channel.
