Graduate Students

All students who complete the WSU General Scholarship application by the January 31 deadline will be considered for all scholarships at the university, college, and department/school/program levels for which they meet the criteria. NOTE: The application for Fall 2024 has been reopened with a May 1, 2024 deadline.

Scholarship and Fellowship Eligibility

The following criteria must be met at the time of application and maintained through the academic year for which the scholarship or fellowship is offered.

For incoming students, enrollment isn’t required until fall semester.

  • Enrolled at Washington State University (any campus)
  • Enrolled in a master’s or doctoral degree program offered by the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Ensure the CAS degree program is accurately recorded in myWSU by January 31.
  • Be advised by a CAS faculty member.
  • Students enrolled in an interdisciplinary graduate degree program are eligible provided they are advised by a CAS faculty member.
  • For department or school scholarships, students must be enrolled in an advanced degree program offered by that department or school.
  • Need-based scholarships require a FAFSA or WASFA application for the following academic year be completed by the appropriate deadline.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Maintain good academic and financial standing.

Additional Study Abroad Scholarship Criteria

  • Accepted to an approved exchange, faculty-led trip, or affiliated program offered through the WSU Office of International Programs.
  • For program, department, or school-level scholarships, students must be admitted to or declared an intent to pursue a major or minor degree program offered by that program, department, or school.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Important Considerations

  • Students on continuous doctoral status are eligible regardless of credit load.
  • If a scholarship or fellowship recipient changes degree programs and/or or does not maintain the eligibility requirements during the award period, any scholarship and/or fellowship offers may be rescinded and the funds, if disbursed, will be returned to the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Per WSU Student Financial Services policy, students in collections will not receive any scholarship funds.
