The College of Arts and Sciences is fortunate: we have the opportunity to be both foundational and transformative; traditional and innovative; highly focused and wildly collaborative.

We are woven into the fabric of the University and serve as a hub of discovery, creativity, and knowledge. Together with the core educational mission of the college, the foundational research happening all across CAS significantly contributes to the University’s overall impact on our society, our economy, our environment, and our future.

From the detail of DNA to the vast expanse of the universe, CAS researchers are pushing the boundaries of current understanding. Projects now under way in the sciences include:

  • Expanding our understanding of the physiological impact of fatigue, particularly for first-responders.

This is just a small sample of the broad array of disciplines and world-class research in our community. Next month, we’ll highlight some of the amazing scholarly and creative activities in the arts and humanities.
