Six awards are designed to honor professional and institutional service.

Excellence in Professional Service

Recognizes faculty who have a history of exemplary service to a public agency, academic discipline, or professional organization.

Specific eligibility: Faculty of any rank in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nomination packet should include:

  • A broad description (limit of two pages) of why the nominee is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments, publications, and recognition. Focus on the impact of the nominee’s work within the discipline or in external agencies or communities. Include external recognition of note.
  • Additional documentation of outstanding service accomplishments, duties, and/or leadership.
  • At least one letter of support or testimonial from a peer, professional colleague, and/or external constituent is required.
  • CV limit: 10 pages.

Excellence in Institutional Service

Recognizes faculty who have a history of exemplary institutional service that has benefited the department, college, and the University.

Specific eligibility: Faculty of any rank in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nomination packet should include:

  • A broad description (limit of two pages) of why the nominee is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments, publications, and recognition. Focus on the positive impact on relevant units, committees, and initiatives, and, where appropriate, increased effectiveness by colleagues.
  • Additional documentation of outstanding service accomplishments, duties, and/or leadership.
  • At least one letter of support or testimonial from an institutional peer, office, department, school, or program, and/or external constituent is required.
  • CV limit: 10 pages.

Excellence in Undergraduate Advising

Recognizes undergraduate advisors who effectively facilitate student decision making, continually provide guidance and support to undergraduate students, and exhibit a respectful, caring, and compassionate attitude toward students.

Specific eligibility: Faculty or staff (administrative professional or civil service) undergraduate advisors in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nomination packet should include:

  • A broad description (limit of two pages) of why the nominee is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments, advising, and mentoring, and focus on the impact of the nominee’s range of experience within the discipline, across the institution, and on students. Include recognition of note.
  • Additional documentation of outstanding accomplishments in advising and mentoring as appropriate.
  • At least one letter of support or testimonial from a current or past student is required.
  • Resume/CV limit: 5 pages.

Faculty Peer Mentoring

Recognizes outstanding faculty peer mentoring and enrichment of peer-to-peer relationships between faculty members of all ranks, between faculty and staff, and across the college and the institution.

Specific eligibility: Faculty of any rank in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nomination packet should include:

  • A broad description (limit of two pages) of why the nominee is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments, mentoring, and recognition. Describe distinguished mentoring performance and include external recognition of note.
  • Additional documentation of meritorious accomplishments in mentoring, as appropriate.
  • At least one letter of support or testimonial from a current peer or past colleague is required.
  • CV limit: 10 pages.

Outstanding Achievement in International Activities

Recognizes faculty for sustained and outstanding international achievement in teaching, research, creative activities, or service.

Specific eligibility: Faculty of any rank in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nomination packet should include:

  • A broad description (limit of two pages) of why the nominee is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments, publications, and recognition, and focus on the nominee’s work within the discipline, across the institution, in international communities, and/or on students as appropriate. List external recognition of note.
  • Additional documentation of outstanding accomplishments in teaching, research, scholarly work, or creative activity as appropriate.
  • At least one letter of support or testimonial from a peer or international constituent, institution, or entity is required.
  • CV limit: 10 pages.

Public and Community Engagement

Recognizes faculty or staff who have demonstrated sustained efforts to connect their research, scholarship, creative activity, or teaching directly to the publics and communities our university serves.

Specific eligibility: All full-time faculty and staff, regardless of rank.

Nomination packet should include:

  • A broad description (limit of two pages) of why the nominee is deserving of the award. Cite specific examples of relevant accomplishments and recognition.
  • Additional documentation of efforts and accomplishments in public and community engagement with relevant stakeholders.
  • At least one letter of support or testimonial from an external constituent is required.
