Service

Three awards designed to honor professional and institutional service.

Excellence in Professional Service Award

Recognizes faculty who have a history of exemplary service to a public agency or discipline, or a professional organization.

Specific eligibility: Faculty of any rank in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nomination packet should include: Documented evidence of exemplary service and leadership on committees or in offices critical to the operation and function of public agencies or professional disciplines; specific examples within and outside of academic units, the college and University, public agencies, and professional organizations. Letters of support or testimonials from peers, professional colleagues, and/or external constituents, institutions and entities are required.

CV limit: 10 pages.

Excellence in Institutional Service Award

Recognizes faculty who have a history of exemplary institutional service that has benefited the department, college, and the university.

Eligibility: Faculty of any rank in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nomination packet should include: Evidence of a history of exemplary service and leadership on committees critical to the operation and function of the College of Arts and Sciences and Washington State University; specific examples both within and outside of the academic unit, the college, the University, public agencies, and/or professional disciplines. Letters of support or testimonials from peers, professional colleagues, and/or external constituents are required.

Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Award

Recognizes undergraduate advisors who effectively facilitate student decision making, continually provide guidance and support to undergraduate students, develop appropriate educational plans while assisting with clarification of career and life goals, and exhibit a respectful, caring and compassionate attitude toward students.

Specific eligibility: Faculty or staff (administrative professional or civil service) undergraduate advisors in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Nomination packet should include: Documentation of exemplary performance as an undergraduate advisor and mentor and a range of advising experience. Student evaluations and letters of recommendation from current and/or past students are required.

Resume limit: Five pages.

Faculty Peer Mentoring

Recognizes outstanding peer mentoring and enrichment peer-to-peer relationships between faculty members of all ranks, between faculty and staff, and across the college and the institution. Nominees should be consistently supportive and knowledgeable both within their discipline and about the institution.

Nomination packet should include: Specific examples of outstanding performance as a peer mentor and a range of mentoring activities. Attach specific examples of meritorious peer interaction. Letters of support or testimonials by current and past peers are required.

CV limit: 10 pages.

Outstanding Achievement in International Activities

Recognizes faculty for sustained and outstanding international achievement in teaching, research, creative activities, or service.

Nomination packet should include: Specific examples of significant and sustained contributions to the internationalization of the college and the University; evidence of the impact of international outreach, infusing international perspectives in teaching, and/or international service.

Letters of support or testimonials from peers and/or international constituents, institutions or entities are required.

CV limit: 10 pages.
