Data analytics expert to lead degree program

Nairanjana “Jan” Dasgupta.A highly successful educator and researcher committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and problem solving, Nairanjana “Jan” Dasgupta has been named director of the Program in Data Analytics at Washington State University.

Psychology adds human touch to technology

The project brings together WSU colleagues in psychology, computer science, and nursing, and seeks to determine whether applied technology can help people stay in their homes longer.

German double major selected as a Rhodes Scholar finalist

smiling student, outsideRyan Summers graduated from WSU on December 9 with a sensational resume: a first degree in computer engineering, a soon-to-be completed second degree in German, his name on a patent, selection as a Rhodes Scholar finalist, numerous awards for outstanding scholarship and undergraduate research, and a 4.0 GPA. The 22-year-old has also completed an international internship, delivered a research presentation in China, and held coveted summer jobs at Elon Musk’s California tech company SpaceX.

WSU joins National Nuclear Security Administration Center of Excellence

National Nuclear Security AdministrationPULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University is part of a new $12.5 million National Nuclear Security Administration Actinide Center of Excellence devoted to research in actinide and nuclear chemistry.

New WSU degree leads the way in data analytics

venn diagram for data analyticsWashington State University is one of two research universities in the country offering a bachelor’s degree focused on data analysis and application, after recently receiving accreditation for the unique interdisciplinary degree.

“The new WSU bachelor of science in data analytics brings together experts from all across the university – from business to agriculture to education to STEM and more – to provide one of the broadest interdisciplinary programs in the nation,” said WSU president Kirk Schulz.

“Our program will transform the student learning experience and expand career opportunities for graduates,” he said. “It showcases another of WSU’s many contributions to the 21st century global economy.”  » More …
